Emilian and my year started the best way possible, in the middle of a beautiful island…! However, our stay in Thailand did not really go as planned. The reason was the Pabuk storm. Luckily the expected winds disappeared before touching land and ended up looking like just a bunch of cloudy days that still let us (and especially the kids) enjoy the pool and some long walks on the beach. All the pictures of our first adventure of the year, are right here.
As for the team, it seems like they went all cliché this year and starting doing sports like crazy in the new year. I wish them all the best, but I am also curious to see how long this excitement lasts… Place your bets!
Two Journals ago, we introduced you to our intern Emma, this time we would like to share three curiosities about Carolin. So here are three fun facts about our Photographer / Picture magician.
We know you speak French fluently. If you were on a secret mission one day and had to pretend to be a local Parisian, what would you be like?
I would live in the Quartier Le Marais. In one of those super pretty old buildings in between of all the oriental/Jewish shops. I would run a small tiny boutique for books where you also can get some coffee and cakes. Since I live in the Marais, I would eat Falafel (fyi you get the best falafel sandwich over there) every day, yes very French I know.
A good glass of wine… or a piece of red velvet cake?
Wine. Definitely wine!
You are originally from Vienna. If you had to spend the rest of your life living in one city, which one would it be?
Puuh this is so hard. I would love to live somewhere else one day, but just for one or two years. So I think my answer is Vienna. I really love our city!

It’s happening in Vienna… as always at this time of the year, is one of the ice-skating paradises. At Rathaus, the whole park becomes a huge ice skating rink for everyone to enjoy. They opened last Friday and it will be open until the 3rd of March. Enjoy!
Le dernier cri… is Le Bol Blanc (Naglergasse 21, 1010). The second one in Vienna. They described themselves as a piece of the Provence in the city. They opened in December and Carolin made sure she went to give it a go. When she arrived she was kindly greeted and offered a nice spot in one of the corners. She ordered a Croissant with salmon, egg and sauce tartare. Delicious she said. Besides that, she also got a classic Cappuccino, which is served in a “bowl” instead of a normal coffee mug.
Besides everything being delicious, Caro still prefers the other “Le Bol” at Neuer Markt 14, simply because of their terrace.
By the way, all of the other classic French pâtisseries are delicious too.
Random curiosities… Emma went to Ikea last weekend and came across this grammar wonder. Can you spot the mistake on the left?
Latest Netflix obsession… The producers went nuts this time. This is the FUTURE. The newest movie of the series Black Mirror, Bandersnatch, produced by Netflix is now interactive. By interactive we mean that you, the person behind the screen, are in charge of deciding what is going to happen next. Yes, yes, you are reading right. You are “responsible” of your characters life sometimes. A true fact is that we can’t even speak about it in the office, because no one has seen the “same movie”. Everyone made different choices and that made every version different. So, the topic is currently taboo at the office until everyone has seen all the different endings.

Carolin ist seit fast einem Jahr Teil des mit Handkuss Teams und beantwortet uns heute drei Fragen. Hier ist Carolin, unser kreativer Kopf hinter der Kamera.
Du sprichst fließend Französisch. Wenn du eines Tages auf Geheimmission wärst und dich als Pariserin ausgeben müsstest, wie würde dein Leben aussehen?
Ich würde in Le Marais leben. Dort gibt es wunderschöne alte Gebäude zwischen orientalischen/jüdischen Shops. Ich hätte eine kleine Boutique in der man auch nur für Kaffee und Kuchen vorbeischauen kann. Da es in meinem Viertel die besten Falafenl gibt, würde ich mir jeden Tag ein Falafel-Sandwich kaufen. Ich bin sehr französisch, ich weiß.
Ein Glas Wein oder ein Stück Red Velvet Kuchen?
Wein. Ganz sicher Wein.
Wenn du dir eine Stadt aussuchen könntest, in der du den Rest deines Lebens verbringen müsstest, welche wäre es?
Das ist schwer. Wenn ich wo anders leben würde, würde ich nur für ein paar Jahre dort bleiben wollen. Also, ich will in Wien leben. Ich liebe unsere Stadt!
Le dernier cri … das neue Le Bol Blanc in der Naglergasse 21, 1010 Wien. Le Bol beschreibt sich selbst als ein Stück Provinz in der Stadt, also ist Carolin gleich hingegangen um zu Testen. Das Personal war sehr freundlich, auch sitzt man an dem kleinen Tisch in einer Ecke sehr gemütlich. Bestellt wurde ein Croissant mit Lachs, Sauce Tartar und Ei. Zitat Carolin: „Das Essen war lecker und der Cappuccino wurde wie im anderen Le Bol Standort in einer Schüssel serviert. Sehr französisch eben“
Es ist wieder an der Zeit…für den Wiener Eistraum. Der Rathausplatz wird, wie jedes Jahr, zu einem riesigen Eislaufplatz umfunktioniert. Bis 3. März geöffnet!
Neuentdeckung auf Netflix… Black Mirror ist etwas verstörend. Aber irgendwie doch cool. Und verrückt. Öffnet Augen und ladet zum Nachdenken ein. Diesmal haben sich die Macher etwas ganz Neues überlegt. Eine Black Mirror Folge, in der man Entscheidungen trifft, die die Geschichte beeinflussen. Die Folge geht also bei jedem Zuseher anders aus. So sieht jeder also einen anderen Film. Absolut empfehlenswert!
